There are some people who think Chinese Cuisine cannot be paired with wine. When asked why, these same people use the excuse, ‘Because wine is not a Chinese product’. If that were the reason, then Chinese food cannot be eaten with beer, nor cognac, but only with Chinese tea. In fact, most young Chinese hardly drink Chinese tea anymore, preferring soft drinks with their meals.
What we eat with what we drink is cultivated through discovery, recommendations and trials. After a while, like most other things in life, they become habit forming.
Perfect Pairings Awards.com is a wine competition that places Chinese Cuisine at the very heart of its focus and attention. In 2012, select popular dishes will be identified in Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai. These will be tasted with wines from around the world and assessed for their pairing suitability. Interested parties can submit their wines for one, two or all three cities.
Panels of opinion leaders and wine experts will taste the dishes and the wines and determine which are Good and Perfect Pairings.
Each panel will comprise three judges.
‘Good Pairing Award’ & ‘Perfect Pairing Award’
Where two judges are of the view that a wine pairs well with a dish, that wine is given a ‘Good Pairing Award’. Where all three judges are of the view that a wine pairs well with a dish, that wine will be accorded a ‘Perfect Pairing Award’.
